
Lea Gessaman Wernick,
Principal
Lea Gessaman Wernick is a federal grants specialist focused on FEMA's Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP). With over 15 years of federal government experience — including service as a warranted Federal Contracting Officer — she brings the inside perspective of someone who has reviewed, scored, and administered federal awards to the work of helping nonprofits compete for and manage NSGP funding.
In her work in the private sector, Lea has supported hundreds of contracts, international and domestic, throughout the contract lifecycle. She has experience with grant preparation and submittal. She has taught classes on Contracts Administration designed to give an overview of the basic contracting principles for stakeholders in the contracting and grant award process.
Lea holds the FAC-C Level II Certification and was awarded the Certified Professional Contract Manager designation after completing a course of study and exam by the National Contract Management Association (NCMA). She is currently a member of the NCMA.
Lea is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, and holds a Master’s Certificate in Contracts and Procurement from the University of Virginia.
